On Tuesday morning me and my class painted Aboriginal art with Miss Evanna. Before we painted, Miss Evanna talked about the art and culture. She said that every Aboriginal person has a totem, Her's was honey ants. A totem is something that you have to put in your art all the time and you can't hurt it. She also said that when she was a child she ate fruits called Quangdoung

Book Reflection: 'Say Yes'

'Say Yes' is a book about how the aboriginals were treated. Aboriginal people weren't allowed to go into the pool, sit with the other people in the cinema, go on the train to see family members or go to the same school as white people. They did this until 1967 but then they had a referendum to change the law that aboriginals weren't considered as human beings and 90% of people voted yes and it was finally fair again. I was really outraged by it but I'm glad it's not the same today.

He was taken away to a foster home when he was 8 years old and in school no one could understand each other so it was really tough for him to get through until one day a little girl gave him a hug. Then he started playing footy

Reconciliation means when you hurt someone in the past and then in the future you put a side your differences. I have learnt about how the aboriginals used to not have rights until 1967 when they had a referendum and on the 27th of May 1967 the voting was over and 90% voted yes and aboriginals got their rights as a human beings. In the year 1971 they put up the first aboriginal flag in Adelaide.
