Surrealism in Greek could be described as "above or beyond reality", it was a movement developed mainly in the field of literature but evolved into a wider artistic and political stream. It was mainly in France at the beginning of the 20th century. As a main means of expression, both in literature and in the visual arts, they put forward "automatism", pursuing the exploration of the unconscious, liberating the imagination "in the absence of any control by reason" and proclaiming absolute non-conformism.
