Students will use popplet to explain 3 different ways you can use coins to reach a value. For example, "33 cents: what are three ways I can use coins to make 33 cents?" The students will display their three ways under each popplet bubble with a total. (Students may have to screenshot the popplet and write in their answers if popplet cannot be duplicated for each student to have their own copy.) iPads may be better than computers for this.

Students will take their knowledge of adding coin values and play this interactive money game that allows them to check their answers as they play. If students get an answer wrong, this game gives them hints to go back and try answering again, such as "The value is less than 50 cents." or "Count by tens, then by five, and then by ones". Students will screenshot and submit their scores at the end of the game time for the teacher to review.

Students will collaborate in small groups to judge and evaluate whether or not there are enough coins to buy an item mentioned. The groups will be leveled and differentiated by having different documents for each leveled group. The teacher will have a google document shared with the students and allow students to make a copy and edit the document to type in their answers / reasonings. They will judge and evaluate whether or not there would be enough money to buy an object mentioned. Example/ If Jenny has 3 quarters and 1 dime, does she have enough money to buy a 90 cent popsicle? Explain your answer.
