Andrew Johnson became president after Lincoln died. He offered a pardon to all Southern whites except Confederate leaders. Nor did wealthy planters. Wanted to help whites in the South. Also created black codes unlike Congressional to limit the rights of black, freed people. Started the Radical Republicans because they wanted to make major changes.

Born: January 26, 1892
Died: April 30, 1926
She was born in Texas. She was the first African American female pilot of an airplane. Born into a sharecropping family in Texas and grew up in Texas. Bessie Coleman was important for many reasons. One was because she was the first African American to be a pilot. She was also the first African American female pilot. She had obstacles to face like being female because many people were biased against her because she was female. Also she was African American and there were black codes and laws/rules that tried to stop her from being able to do things like piloting an airplane.

The 13th amendment banned slavery all over the United States of America. Also banned involuntary servitude. This meant if people didn't volunteer to do work or tasks, they didn't have to do it. Which meant slavery wouldn't be possible even if you tried. The 14th amendment made all people born or naturalized into the U.S, citizens.
