The flag of Costa Rica was created the 29 of September of 1848 along with the National Shield. The flag is tricolor by means of five frajas placed horizontally, a red in the center comprised between two white, to each one of which follows a blue . The width of each strip is the sixth part of the flag, except the red one which is two-sixth.
