Igneous rocks are rocks that are formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. The magma can be derived from partial melts of existing rocks in either a planets mantle or crust. The melting can be caused by: an increase in temperature, a decrese in preasure, or a change in composition. Solidification into rock occurs either below the surface as intrusive rocks or at the surface as extrusive rock.

Sedimentary rocks are when sand, mud and pebbles get laid in layers Over time, these layers are squashed under more and more layers. Eventually, the layers are lithified (turned to rock) Sedimentary rocks can be formed in deserts , lakes, rivers and seas .

Metamorphic rocks are formed because of heat or pressure. Earth movements a.k.a earthquakes can cause rocks to get buried or squeezed a lot. This causes the rocks to become quite hot and they are put under a load of pressure. They don't melt, but the minerals that are in there are chemically changed to form metamorphic
rocks.
