Hora & Thompson (2021) argues in “COVID-19 shows why it’s time to finally end unpaid college internships” that due to corona-virus pandemic, unpaid industry positions for students or recent graduates could take advantage if they are regulated. The information of this article is partially based in data; however, the authors mention some information that cannot be found easily. In one hand, they said that they had analysed their national College Internship Study and showed the results of its survey but we do not know more about either their study methodology or if it was published in a journal. Despite the lack of references, maybe we can trust them because both are researchers and professors in USA.

We think that the information is at an appropriate level because it answers our needs and is consistently structured. The intended audience could be mainly college students but also student’s parents, human resources department of companies, non-profit employers, federal government authorities, and researchers, such as economists’ researchers. Us, college students, must be aware of this kind of articles because are associated with our middle-term future aims. Therefore, comparing this source with other research papers could give us more elements to assess and the big picture of the problem that could worse inequality in society.

The main purpose, in one hand, is to inform college students about the class division problematic and the pandemic problems. In the other hand, is to persuade the companies, non-profits and US federal government that there are, at least, three ways around how and why paying internships as the authors explain (Hora & Thompson, 2021). The purpose is clear enough because Hora & Thompson (2021) warns about inequality in society (para. 25) and disparity between women and men unpaid interns (para. 16). So, the sponsors are trying to put in top of mind this trouble among employers. We think that the article is not partial at all because it develops the disadvantages but do not go deeper into unpaid intern’s advantages
