In Teaching for a Living Democracy, Block provides an outline for his "Our Philadelphia, Our America" project. As you can imagine, there is careful planning involved. For our purposes, we will be writing short pieces (3-5 sentences) that address current issues, necessary understandings, and personal experiences.

I am second generation. I have gone through phases of identifying as only Mexican, only American, and neither. This duality has given me heartache over my life.
