Deciding how to upgrade a building is like choosing a route, but without a map. Building managers face a maze of options, and without proper planning, they might get stuck choosing upgrades that do not deliver the benefits they hoped for. Which is why I developed a decision support system, a tool like google maps for smart renovation. My research offers the navigation required by building managers to select options that cut emissions, save energy and enhance comfort, choices that are often overlooked if decisions were based on cost alone.
