Here is an overview of what we will cover in Islamic Studies this year! 

We already started learning about the deeper meaning of Tawheed and understanding and reflecting upon the three branches of Tawheed. We will then explore the 99 names of Allah SWT and their importance. We will also explore the ways in which we can apply Tawheed to our daily prayers and appreciate the importance of voluntary prayers; ultimately bringing us closer to our Creator. Furthermore, through the story of Prophet Nuh( a.s.), students will reflect upon the lesson learned and will connect themselves to the iRise core value “Rabaniyyah” and how having a Muraqabah Mindset is very important to being a good muslim. Last but not least, we will review the Seerah of our beloved Prophet Mohammed (saw), with a focus on the post Hijra time period when Muslims were under siege.

My utmost goal in my classroom is to create a diverse atmosphere, which will enable your child to explore all the possibilities. We will be exploring the Arabic language, and studying what is necessary to make your child succeed.

Arabic plays an important role in the Islamic faith because Arabic is the language of the Holy Quran. It is a fascinating, complex language with a rich history and beautiful script, and it's definitely worth consideration as a field of study!

Arabic became the sixth official working language of the General ­Assembly of the United Nations.As well as it is the fourth most spoken language in the world. About 315 million people in 58 countries speak the Arabic as their first language.

The course covers speaking, listening,grammar, reading and writing practice.Students will learn the basics of the language and be able to build up enough knowledge to read and write.

Intercultural Understanding: demonstrate an understanding of information in French texts about aspects of culture in diverse French-speaking communities and other communities around the world, and of French sociolinguistic conventions used in a variety of situations and communities.

D. WRITING OVERALL EXPECTATIONS By the end of Grade 5, students will: D1. Purpose, Audience, and Form: write French texts for different purposes and audiences, using a variety of forms; D2. The Writing Process: use the stages of the writing process – including pre-writing, producing drafts, revising, editing, and publishing – to develop and organize content, clarify ideas and expression, correct errors, and present their written work effectively; D3. Intercultural Understanding: in their written work, demonstrate an awareness of aspects of culture in diverse French-speaking communities and other communities around the world, and of the appropriate use of French sociolinguistic conventions in a variety of situations.
