The final project was done on glossy printer paper with Ink and sharpie marker. I put water down on my base before letting drops of ink fall on the paper and spreading in almost bark shapes where i put the water down for the tree. When I was making the asphalt, I had the ink on a separate piece of paper and used a wet brush that had been rung our so it was damp and ran the brush through the ink and over the paper making the bristles of the brush spread apart to give it a brushed, lined, look. I did the same technique with the grass.

My original plan was to draw tree people that work around and in the trees to help them grow and become stronger. I scratched the idea after having another idea, one that I thought would turn out better than my original.

I was looking for ideas when starting the thumbnail sketched and I came across this picture of a small plant growing through the asphalt. I chose to add the little growing tree to my final drawing because I felt that roots and trees are persistent and patient. No matter what, they will do anything they can to survive
