The most memorable experience in my life was when I was in eighth grade, which occurred at the end of the school year. My secondary school conducts a selective exam for students who want to participate in the school's English team for the city-level excellent student competition. I joined with the firm belief that I would pass it, but, unfortunately, I didn’t pass. When I found out, I felt disappointed and began to think that I had no talent for the English language. It was so discouraging that I even considered giving up my passion with English. Thankfully, my parents and friends were always by my side to encourage me. Moreover, their support gave me the motivation to try another exam. When the tenth grade entrance exam came around, I decided to challenge myself and apply to major in English at VNU-High school for the gifted. To my surprise and delight, I passed. From that experience, I learned a valuable lesson: I must believe in myself. Failure is not the ending, it's simply a beginning for success. This lesson has stayed to remind me that setbacks are a natural part of any journey toward a goal.

“ What did you eat to become such a pig?, haha.”, “ Go on a diet to lose weight or you will be like a sumo”. That’s what I heard during my secondary school years. The shame and isolation from body shaming not only hurt me but also made me become quiet and restrict talking to everyone. I thought that I deserved criticism and I hated myself. I sank into a crisis while in puberty.

My childhood was mostly great, full of family love, contrasted sharply with the early challenges of adolescence. My first challenge was when I was in 7th grade, when my family moved so I changed schools. At first, I expected to have new friends and a fun learning environment. But contrary to my thoughts, that year, as a new girl in school, I became the focus of teasing about my chubby appearance. I was bullied about my body shape by my friends because everyone thought that I was a new student and would not dare to do anything.

However when I grew up, I had several new opportunities, share and understand myself and gradually became more loving and learned to ignore the words that hurt me. My personal battles have created my dream of becoming a psychotherapist. I aspire to be the support person who I once desperately needed, offering a guiding hand to those struggling with similar pain. My goal is not merely a career but a commitment to contribute my knowledge and heart. After university, I plan to move back to my country and dedicate myself to our local psychological field, using my own experiences to serve my community.

To achieve this, I am realizing the skills I need to cultivate further. As an introvert, I am actively working to enhance my communication skills and develop leadership qualities. Effective therapy and big projects need both deep empathy and good guidance. In the future, I would love to create a psycho-educational project which is a platform to openly discuss mental health experiences, share insights, and boost a community of understanding and mutual support. This project would be a direct manifestation of my journey: transforming personal pain into a public resource for healing and growth.

Outside academics, my passion for psychology extends to personal pursuits. I spend hours listening to podcasts and reading books about psychological topics, constantly seeking to expand my knowledge. My proficiency in chess is more than a hobby, it's a test to my strategic thinking, patience, and ability to analyze complex situations.

My academic journey has been a process to explore myself. English and Chinese have become my strong subjects. Mastering them has not only broadened my global perspective but also given me an opportunity to connect new friends. I collaborated with my best friend to establish a Chinese club in his school and I support as the head of content and a content member of the Artvenger club, which is such an art club in my high school. My writing skills, affirmed by a third-place win in an essay competition by Arinet, which is a study abroad advisory board, is proof of my deep reflection and clear expression which are the tools I believe are fundamental to effective therapeutic communication.

Beyond formal coursework, I've actively sought opportunities to enhance my understanding. Teaching primary school children, though seemingly unrelated, deepened my empathy and learned to listen to everyone, essential for guiding individuals through their own suffering.

All my experiences, from navigating academic challenges to overcoming personal battles have made in me a deep sense of purpose. I am not just looking for education, I am seeking the training, knowledge, and community that will enable me to realize my vision of contributing meaningfully to the field of psychotherapy. I’m confident that my mix of academic focus, personal empathy, and strong drive makes me incredibly motivated to make a real difference in people's lives.

In Zootopia, Flash the sloth flouts the maxim of quantity when he gives information very slowly and with unnecessary detail to Judy Hopps. He does this on purpose to create humor, and Judy understands the implied meaning. The context is entertaining and playful.

In Frozen, Elsa violates the maxim of quantity by hiding information about her ice powers from Anna. She gives too little information to avoid explaining the truth. This situation is serious and emotional.

The flouting shows creativity and humor, while the violation shows fear and lack of honesty.
