Chemical Warfare... what is chemical warfare exactly? It is the involvement of

toxic chemical substances to be used as weapons. These weapons are

classified as mass destruction weapons. During the 20th century up to 70

chemicals have been used for the involvement of chemical warfare. Chemical

warfare was a big part of world war 1! (used by Germany and France)

Chemical warfare first off can come in a lot of different ways. Going from gas,

liquid, aerosol to even a powder. It is definitely one of the cruelest ways

people can go about war. They are most of the times lethal to all people.

People who don't want to get infected will wear a gas mask like seen in the

picture above. Of course, there is many different chemicals that do different

things to the body. But I will name off some of the ones that are commonly

used more than others.

( Mustard gas is very similar to the gas described and used in Wonder

woman!)

Sulfur mustard is a gas that is very toxic to the body(of course). It has some

mystery at first to it because you don't see immediate damage to the body

after inhaling it. It is one that slowly creeps up onto you after a few hours

things will be start to be seen. This was first used in world war 1. The damage

this gas can have on a person is it causes major blistering and burns. Not only

that but it can have permanent damage on the nervous and immune

system. Also known as mustard gas, this was used a bit in world war one.

Nerve gas is the most deadliest out of the bunch. Being able to kill someone

in a minute. But, it was created in Germany on accident. After finding

alternatives to nicotine to kill insects they discovered nerve gas. Nerve gas

can be very bad when it comes in contact with the body or if it is inhaled.

Both of these will cause severe damage to the body if not death. Not really

used until ww2 but is still a well known gas to be used in war.

different types of chemical warfare throughout the years.

Chemical warfare has been a thing for a very very long time! People are

always out trying to find new substances that could potentially be deadly to

others. One big mention of chemical warfare was when Germany and France

used tear gas in world war 1. Tear gas can irritate the eyes, lungs, mouth and

nose and cause lots of symptoms very quickly. So they tried using this, which

actually isn't a gas. Tear gas is an aerosol. Over the years they have found

"better" more lethal ways of chemical warfare with different chemicals and

such. Most resulting in becoming very ill or just death.

During world war 1 chemical warfare was used a lot to either kill or weaken

there enemies. Using tear gas to weaken mostly and cause symptoms to

them, or going more gruesome using mustard gas causing blistering to

others. O even chlorine gas. People feared gasses a lot and now chemical warfare is stronger than

ever even being able to kill someone in up to a minute.
