Folk dances of Izmir region, dances with their own characteristic structure played by the people in Izmir province and its surroundings.
Izmir is a city located at the western end of the Aegean Region. The games played in the region are in the heavy zeybek part of the zeybek genre. Heavy viscous zeybek figures and zeybek folk songs can be seen in İzmir and its villages. What makes İzmir privileged in folk dances is the institutionalization of folk dances in the Izmir region. The biggest role in this was played by the conservatory in the province. Thanks to the folk dance conservatory, the local folk dances were brought to the desired level and quality.
