All in all it was a great book, i just wish it would have more details about what they went through. Explaining the hardships her and her family went through. 
So when Madeline (the main character) went to the king to plead for him to have mercy on her family, she goes their thinking that he will have mercy because they where ex-lovers. no realizing that that was 15 years ago, yes he might still care about her but that was 15 years ago. she has no idea how much he could have change in that amount of time.
