My name means “Dweller near the ash tree meadow’’ its a name from the old english (Anglo-Saxon) words æsc (ash) and lēah and translates to "Dweller near the ash tree meadow". From all this information this means my name ashley means trees and meadows. In my own opinion I do not think my name fits me I would consider an ashley a more lighter person than me. I personally don't like it because its overused and i would have wanted to have a name that fits me and that is unique in a way. My mom and dad gave me the name they liked it and stuck with it. I was the last child so they probably didn’t put to much effort into the name.

“Soy Nacido en LA

De padres michoacanos

Mi familia humilde

Mexico americano

Era meñor de edad

Y ya estava chambiando

Repartiendo verdura

Los dias se me hacian largos”

I chose this song because the whole song relates to me in many different ways. I was born in LA with my parents both being from Michoacan. Although I didn't struggle to make a living for myself my dad and mom did to make a living for us and themselves so thats why I relate to the song in a way. Id like to think my family is very humble I know everything we show off we earned it with very hard work. Thats why i chose that song in particular.

This song is used in a tradition danza de los viejitos coming from Michoacán. I love songs that are used in the danzas. I had a viejitos entrada for my quinceañera, I love my culture. This song is very popular since its the song that the danza dances to, the viejitos dance is also very popular in Michoacan.

I couldn’t wait to add mole, mole is one of my favorites dishes that my mom makes. I love the mole estilo michoacan, whenever I go my tias make it and its the best my mom always brings some chile for when we get back. They learned from my grandma and now they all make it so yummy. I would love to learn how to make it because its a dish that my family been making since forever. The red rice just tops it all off with homemade tortillas.

My mom at times also makes them for my tias and uncles here, they all love her cooking. I hope at some point im as good as her because her food be good.

My mom and dad where both raised in a pueblo called San Nicholas Obispo and thats how they met. My father crossed over to fix his papers soon came back and married my mom and fixed her papers. We would all visit every year till my eldest sister and my brother stoped going then it was just me and my other sister. We still visited every year but then we soon stopped going every year after my grandma passed away it was a very hard loss to get over knowing we wouldn’t see her the next time that we visited. Maybe around a year later just my mom, dad and I went, I was a bit nervous but we went for a fiesta that my pueblo has every year in december my mom promised something and I came out in the danza that they have for the pueblo. I’d like to say that I grew up a bit in mexico just because i would always visit and stay there for a long period of time. We had a house in mexico till my tias from my dads side took over it but now we have some rooms in my tias house from my mom side of the family. Going in december is the best time to go because thats when are the festivals are happing and we get to pop fire works and just have good time in the plaza with the fair. Our pueblo is also known to have one of the biggest molcajete so many people go when its the day of the molcajete they take pictures, our pueblo sets up and sells things like small molcajete keychains or just regular size ones. I absolutely love my little pueblo and being from Michoacan.

I love to wear them since they are a part of my culture and they just represent me.

This quote might not be what you where expecting but this has a meaning to me because my grandpa had always told me this, not only him but also my mom & dad. Its also a very funny quote they use. They always tell me this when they think im slacking off or when we are on the subject of school. I always think about this as my motivation to get my things together.

He came into my life when everything was falling apart its crazy to think how much of a big difference a person can make. I will always thank him for being my hero. He helped me heal and thanks to him i’m a better person, i've also learned to love myself. He has also been a big support in what I do, one of my biggest supporters.
