This is why a field trip would be a great way to experience ones culture. San Antonio is filled with so much hispanic culture. The Alamo is a great place to start off with. To get more from Mexican culture, we can go to the historic Market Square where everything feels like you are in Mexico with music, great food, shops with authentic Mexican items. What do they for the holidays? Do they celebrate different holidays? This would also beneficial for the students because they will learn and ask questions about their background and why they may do certain things that others do not.
