Marie has multiple issues and concerns but the leading issue is that her arousal state is heightened due to her constantly feeling abandoned, betrayed, hurt, and rejected. Fellow students are making fun of Marie and engaging in cyberbullying. This is causing Marie to feel sad and rejected. This will lead to a negative impact on Marie’s social, emotional and even academic success.

First and foremost, we want to assess Marie's safety towards herself and others, as she stated, "I just don't want to do this anymore." Then, in identifying Marie's presenting issues, we would lead with and focus on Affect by utilizing the inquiry method to identify the pressing issues (abandonment and bullying). We would then incorporate Behavioral interventions while observing and documenting her responsiveness and progress.

We would utilize Narrative Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Narrative Therapy will help Marie feel heard and allow her to separate who she truly is from what has happened to her.  She will gain understanding that the things that have happened to her do not define her. Person Centered Therapy may help Marie to make changes and strive to improve her school situation through motivational interviewing. In utilizing SFBT, we would ask Marie the Miracle Question.  Her answer will give us insight into her counseling goals and we can work towards those goals during our time together.
