The podcast starts off by giving a brief overview who/what Mac Miller is about. But not only that but what his album ¨swimming¨ is about.

He starts off the album with a common [phrase] ¨Drowning¨. He names the album swimming for a reason. He says he was droning but now he´s swimming. This is a theroretical statement. From his mental health declining. You can see he´s starting to finally get better. Saying he´s getting stable. He puts his emotion in his music which is amazing. You can feel what he´s going through. I feel like a rhetorical choice Mac made was starting ¨Come Back to Earth¨ in such a low and depressing style like how he was feeling. But later on in the song, Hes getting more optamistic.

I really enjoyed how the podcast went through every single lyric. You can see that Mac wasnt just making music. This was his therapy. And when you dive into it. You can see what was going through his head. Mac is a real lyrical artist.

Big ideas #1- Regret, Loss, and Suppression

Cole Cuchna, the speaker for the podcast Dissect, talks about Mac Miller in an interesting way. He first starts off by telling us about how his whole album comes about by forming 2 different albums together. Both of those albums talk about how Mac feels very lost in his mind. It tells us how he feels like he is drowning without having a way out. Mac stated in an interview that you could either sink or swim. He ends up talking about how he regrets texting about getting the drugs that ended his life. That regret was really big on him because he was supposed to be getting better. There's a line where he states, “I have neighbors more like strangers we could be friends.” This shows that he’s suppressing himself inside his own head because he wants to have friends, but he’s to much in his head that it seems he hasn’t tried to even step out to make that a real friendship.

Big ideas #1- Change, Rebirth, Confession.

Cole Cuchna, The creator of the dissect podcast, talks about Mac Miller and dives into each lyric of his ¨Swimming¨ album. Cole starts off by giving us a brief description of who Mac is. Mac is a struggling artist who is coming off a drug addiction. He was a music artist who puts his emotions into his work. Mac has hit rock bottom. He doesnt care what anyone thinks. Making this album for his well being.

I start to think he is making this album for his well being, because he starts off the album with confession. He starts off the album repeating the same hook over and over again. ¨I just need a way out of my head¨ (Come back to Earth). He feels trapped in his head. That he´s constantly going in circles. But what if he got out of his head? He´s consantly saying, ¨And I got neighbors, they´re more like strangers. We could be friends.¨ Mac if he got out of his comfort zone and out of his head, Change would happen. He can get to know strangers but hes stuck. Stuck in his head. Mac has been needing change but feels like hes stuck. He later on gets through this. This leads to what i like to call a rebirth. A different Mac Miller is coming out. One that isnt drowing anymore but swimming. Finally not falling down that rabit hole. But catching his feet. He´s getting the help he needed. Im glad to see that hes improving.
