Islam is to testify (the Shahada), perform prayers, fast in the month of Ramadan, give zakat, and perform Hajj if able.

Faith (Iman) is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and in divine predestination, both the good and the bad.

Ihsan, as explained by the Prophet, is to worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you cannot envision that, then to know that He is always watching you.

The Prophet explained that among the signs of the Day of Judgment are when a servant gives birth to her master and when the poor and shepherds compete in constructing tall buildings.

- The intention behind seeking knowledge should be pure, aiming to gain closeness to Allah and benefit others, rather than for worldly gain.

2. Respect for Teachers

- Students must show great respect for their teachers, both in their presence and absence. This includes listening attentively, not interrupting, and valuing the teacher’s time and knowledge.

- Do not open social media during the class

- Response immediately when the teachers give you questions.

3. Respect for Books and Materials

- In Islamic tradition, books and learning materials are treated with respect. This includes handling them carefully, keeping them clean, and not placing them in inappropriate places.

4. Gratitude

- Being thankful to both teachers and Allah for the opportunity to learn is important. Acknowledging that knowledge is a gift, not a right, encourages humility and a sense of responsibility.

1. Belief in Allah

This is the belief in the existence of Allah, His oneness, and His perfection. It involves the belief that Allah is the creator, sustainer, and ruler of the entire universe, and that there is no god worthy of worship except Him.

2. Belief in Angels

Muslims believe that angels are beings created by Allah from light. They have specific roles and duties, such as delivering messages from Allah, protecting people, and recording human deeds. Angels have no free will and always obey Allah’s commands.

3. Belief in the Divine Books

This is the belief that Allah revealed scriptures to His prophets as guidance for humanity. These include the Torah (revealed to Moses), the Psalms (revealed to David), the Gospel (revealed to Jesus), and the Quran (revealed to Muhammad). The Quran is the final and complete revelation.

Muslims believe in all the prophets sent by Allah to guide humanity, starting from Adam to the final prophet, Muhammad. A total of 25 prophets are mentioned in the Quran, with Muhammad being the last and the seal of the prophets.

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment

This is the belief in the end of the world, when all people will be resurrected and judged by Allah based on their deeds in this life. The righteous will be rewarded with Paradise, while the wrongdoers will be punished in Hell.

6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qada’ and Qadar)

This is the belief that everything that happens in this world, whether good or bad, occurs by the will of Allah. While humans have free will and make choices, Allah's knowledge and plan encompass everything. Muslims must accept Allah’s decree with patience and trust.

1. Sincerity (Ikhlas): Performing every action purely for the sake of Allah, without any ulterior motives for praise or personal gain.

2. Mindfulness (Taqwa): Being constantly aware of Allah’s presence and acting with care and caution, knowing that Allah observes everything.

3. Excellence in Conduct: Going beyond just fulfilling obligations; it is about doing things in the best way possible, whether it is in worship, interactions with others, or fulfilling responsibilities.

In various aspects of life, adab governs how one should behave:

- In learning: Showing respect to teachers, valuing knowledge, and seeking it with sincerity.

- In worship: Performing religious duties with humility and reverence.

- In relationships: Treating family, friends, and strangers with kindness, respect, and fairness.

- In speech: Speaking truthfully and with care, avoiding hurtful or inappropriate words.

Adab aims to shape a person’s character in a way that reflects ethical principles and moral integrity.

These verses illustrate the patience, wisdom, and respect with which Prophet Ibrahim invites his father to monotheism and the worship of Allah. Despite his father’s harsh rejection and threats, Ibrahim maintains his calm and respectful demeanor. His approach serves as a model for how to convey the message of truth with compassion, even in difficult situations.

Adab in seeking knowledge refers to the proper etiquette, manners, and attitude that a student must adopt to gain knowledge effectively and with blessings. Observing these etiquettes ensures that the pursuit of knowledge is done sincerely and brings benefit to both the individual and society.

1. Affirmation of Tawhid (Belief in Allah)
• Acknowledging that Allah is the only deity worthy of worship.
• Rejecting all forms of shirk (associating partners with Allah).

2. Acceptance of the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ
• Believing that Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah who brought the teachings of Islam.
• Following the teachings and Sunnah of the Prophet in daily life.

3. The Gateway to Islam
• Anyone who wants to embrace Islam must recite the Shahadah with full conviction.
• Without Shahadah, acts of worship and other religious practices are not valid in Islam.

1. Worshiping Only Allah
• Performing salah, supplicating, and seeking help only from Allah.
• Avoiding acts of shirk, such as idol worship or believing in superstitions.
2. Following the Sunnah of the Prophet
• Practicing the teachings of Prophet Muhammad in all aspects of life.

Meaning of Zakat
Linguistically, zakat means purification, growth, and increase. In Islamic terms, zakat is a specified portion of wealth that is obligatory for eligible Muslims to give to those who are entitled to receive it, as prescribed in Islam.

2. Zakat on Wealth (Zakat al-Mal)
• Applicable to wealth that reaches the nisab (minimum threshold) and has been held for haul (one lunar year).
• Types of zakat on wealth:
• Zakat on Income – Applied to salaries, allowances, bonuses, and other earnings.
• Zakat on Business – Levied on business profits.
• Zakat on Gold and Silver – Applied to gold and silver savings exceeding the nisab.
• Zakat on Agriculture – Applied to crops such as rice and certain fruits.
• Zakat on Livestock – Applied to animals such as cattle, sheep, and camels.
• Zakat on Investments and Shares – Applied to profits from investments that qualify for zakat.

2. Helping the Needy
• Reduces poverty and improves social welfare.
• Provides opportunities for the underprivileged to achieve financial stability.

3. Strengthening Muslim Unity
• Promotes compassion and mutual support among Muslims.
• Reduces the gap between the rich and the poor.

4. Increasing Blessings in Wealth
• Wealth given in zakat is never lost; instead, it is blessed and grows.
• As the Prophet ﷺ said: “Wealth is not diminished by charity…” (Hadith by Muslim).

Meaning of Fasting
Linguistically, sawm means to abstain. In Islamic terms, fasting refers to refraining from eating, drinking, and other invalidating acts from dawn (fajr) until sunset (maghrib) with the intention of worshipping Allah.

2. Purification of the Soul and Character
• Encourages sincerity, patience, and honesty, as only Allah knows if one is truly fasting.

3. Physical Health Benefits
• Gives the digestive system a break and detoxifies the body.
• Helps regulate metabolism and control weight.

4. Instilling Empathy for the Poor
• Fosters compassion and generosity toward those who experience hunger daily.
• Encourages charitable giving and care for the less fortunate.

5. Forgiveness and Great Rewards
• Fasting with sincerity erases past sins.
• The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven.” (Hadith by Bukhari & Muslim)

2. Wuquf in Arafah (Standing at Arafah) – Spending time in the plain of Arafah on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, the most critical pillar of Hajj.

3. Tawaf Ifadah – Circling the Kaaba seven times after returning from Arafah.

4. Sa’i – Walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.

5. Shaving or Trimming the Hair – As a sign of completing the pilgrimage.

6. Following the Proper Order – Performing these acts in their correct sequence.

1. Hajj Ifrad
• Performing only Hajj, without Umrah.
• Tawaf and Sa’i are performed after standing in Arafah.

2. Hajj Tamattu’
• Performing Umrah first, then Hajj within the same pilgrimage season.
• Requires offering a sacrificial animal (dam).

3. Hajj Qiran
• Performing Hajj and Umrah together in one ihram.
• Requires offering a dam as well.
