The two sides of the argument are that:
 
1. Art can be created for art’s sake without a responsibility to one’s community. 
2. Art should be created for function, as a responsibility to one’s community. The belief here is that an artist should inspire others through political, social, and economic struggle. 
 
Discussion: Which side do you agree with and why? Which side do you think Beyonce' agrees with based on the album?

I once heard from a book that the art of today gives people understanding. I agree with this statement. Art doesn't have to be shared or made with a purpose all the time. If people feel the need to inspire then, that's good. If people don't need to be inspired that's okay too.
I think Beyonce's Lemonade album is definitely made with a purpose. For the first side, you can make art and it can mean nothing in your point of view, but if another person sees your art, it can mean something really deep. On the other hand, art can be used to inspire anybody that thinks it can be inspirational to them.
