Accredited counter fraud specialist course

This specialist training course has been organized by the Health Insurance Counter Fraud Group (HICFG). It includes standard traditional counter fraud techniques with bespoke clinical expertise. It is accredited by the Government-backed Counter Fraud Professional Accreditation Board (CFPAB) and leads to the Foundation level Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist (ACFS) award. Successful students can also progress to Advanced, Degree and even Masters level professional qualifications.

Course Delivery

The course comprises of Seven modules which are delivered either over a straight 2 week period (2 X 5 DAYS) or split according to the clients’ needs. Classes are restricted to 10 students and are led by Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist Trainers. Courses can either be held at our bespoke training facility or in house (by arrangement).

Investigations do not always keep office hours.  HICFG Members will have direct access to members of the team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, either in person or by telephone, email and other remote services including video conferencing, Skype.  The depth and quality of the team at Lincoln House means that there is always a senior barrister on hand to provide advice and guidance in an emergency.

Pre-investigation advice and risk assessment

Rather than waiting for an official enquiry, many HICFG Members are reassured in advance by advice from leading experts from the team.  If an investigation does happen, the barrister will already know the issues involved and be in a position to provide effective representation from the outset.

Pre-charge advice and support

Where an investigation begins, access to some of the country’s leading barristers offers the best possible chance of a successful recovery.  Advice can be given on the legality of the investigation and assistance can be provided to point out potential areas of concern with evidence and ways of assisting the investigation. Tactical decisions, such as what questions in interview should be asked or providing specific documents to relevant authorities, can be made with an expert eye on the whole picture, including the possibility of a future trial.

Advice under Restraint Orders

Where a criminal investigation is being considered there will be the need to consider restraint orders.  In this situation it is imperative to act quickly, particularly where a business is involved, to apply to the appropriate bodies.  The teams have considerable experience in restraint proceedings, and can often draft emergency applications within 24 hours of sight of a Restraint Order.

Extradition and cross border issues in criminal cases

Where offences are said to have involved more than one country the team are well placed to advice on the best approach to any proceedings and even appear in overseas courts where local regulations permit.

For HICFG clients, where there is a need to escalate and instruct barristers formally, then the team guarantees same day response for telephone calls and email response within 24 hours.

•  On arrival you should go straight to Reception to check in – there is a luggage store at reception and room keys are available from 2.00pm.

•  Check out is at 9.30am

•  Bedrooms are en-suite and have televisions, trousers presses/ironing stations, hair dryers, wifi internet access, and tea and coffee making facilities.

•  All bedrooms are equipped with direct dial telephones and the charge per unit is 20p. You will be charged for any calls on your room bill at the end of your visit.

•  A laundry service is available with a 24hr turn-round collected from your room and charged to your room account.

By Car

Exit the M25 at Junction 18. Take the A404 towards Amersham. After 2 miles turn right, signposted Latimer and Chenies. Proceed through Chenies Village and after 1 mile turn right at the crossroads, signposted Latimer. Turn left at the Village Green proceed up the hill, the entrance gates to Latimer House are 50 yards on the left.

By Train

Chalfont & Latimer and Chalfont station is five minutes by car from the Centre. The station is on the Metropolitan tube line and BR’s Chiltern line connecting into London Marylebone. Taxis should be pre-booked from the station by calling Reception on (01494) 545500.

By Air
