relation to the cold war

This war was the perfect example of a surrogate war. Though both countries were fighting each other they were being controlled by these superpowers. For example, when trying to end the fighting, North and South Korea did not negotiate. It was the UN and USSR, these countries had all the power in this war yet were not directly fighting in it. This only furthered the cold war because of the fact that many other situations like this would continue to happen. Even today we see wars like this. Russia invading Ukraine could be seen as a surrogate war. As Russia continues its ongoing invasion of Ukraine they do little negotiating with ukraine. Using Ukraine as a platform to speak to other world leaders. No matter the reasons, the main reason for this invasion is a grab at power by Putin, or he's just a madman. But Though NATO isn't directly being attacked they have all the power in what happens to Ukraine as well as many other countries. Putin is treating Ukraine as a proxy to get to the major super[powers such as the US and NATO
