In Chapter 4 of Lord of the Flies, there is an obvious power struggle between Ralph and Jack. The conflict is sparked once Simon, Ralph, Maurice, and Piggy view smoke on the horizon, a ship, before realizing the fire atop the mountain was out. The four boys desperately attempt to start the fire in time, but they must wait for Piggy, whose specs light the fire. By the time the fire was lit, the ship had disappeared, and at that moment Jack and the rest of the hunters and older boys came marching back with a killed pig. It is at this point in the story where Jack and Ralph's contrasting priorities are most evident. Near the end of the chapter, Jack takes out his anger over Ralph's disappointment on Piggy, and began violently bullying him in front of the rest of the boys. The chapter concludes with Ralph calling an assembly to discuss the rules and priorities of the island.

-I think that Jack will keep getting mad at Piggy because he is not the same and Piggy may not be doing things the way that Jack thinks he should be doing.
-I also think that they will probably have another problem with the fire because they have already had two.
-The group may become divided. The hunter's and the builders. The leaders may be different because the groups may be divided.

-Jack was acting like an animal and putting paint on his face for hunting. It wasn't a surprise when Jack let the fire go out because he only wanted focus on hunting. To annotate we could use what Jack's priorities are. He symbolizes how impulsive someone can be when they only focus on one thing.

-Roger-He hid behind trees and would throw rocks at the younger kids that could potentially be dangerous if he continues to be violent. Roger also went hunting with Jack for the pigs which also showed he was into the violence of hunting. For annotating we could keep checking in on how violent and how much of a bully Roger is.

-Piggy still was bullied and continued to wipe his glasses. He symbolizes the smart kid that gets picked on. Piggy isn't taken seriously even though he could be the way they all survive on the island.
