✦I've seen this book in a lot of the classrooms I've worked in and have always wanted to incorporate it into my future classroom. I think I would use it in a way where students team up and build something using a box to make it 'not a box' (this would be a longer activity). Another way I would incorporate this book is by giving each student a piece of paper with a box drawn on it and give them time to draw to turn it into something completely different using the illustrations as inspiration.

✦I love holiday themed activities and lessons and I think this one is a perfect fit for a fun, yet educational STEAM lesson. It would be perfect for right before Christmas break. Students would be grouped up to build their houses (up to teacher on whether its homemade kits or store bought kits just make sure they're all the same). Houses have to fit little gingerbread figures and stay standing on their own. For a little extra fun you could also have an outside party come in to judge the houses. ✦While this is essentially the same book with the same message, representation matters. It is important to showcase both boys and girls in your classroom. Reading both, or at the very least having both in the classroom, will have an impact. Making sure all students, boys and girls, feel seen and heard in the classroom is important in them eventually seeing themselves outside of the classroom in STEAM careers.

✦Carver's contributions should be highlighted because he started his life by having to overcome numerous obstacles showing just how resilient he was. He was a key figure in African American history who advanced farming and created many peanut products we will use today.

✦There are a few different ways to incorporate George Washington Carver into the classroom, Black History Month, Earth Day activities, or social studies lessons. Each week during Black History Month choose someone new to showcase their achievements, and Carver could be one of those people.

✦Johnson's contributions should be highlighted because she broke huge barriers and changed the world of math as a black female.

✦I would integrate learning about Katherine Johnson by creating space-themed math activities. I think also a simple activity with paper 'rockets' and measuring how far they fly would also be a great way to integrate learning about Johnson in the classroom.

✦There are many reasons why Jemison should be highlighted. She's earned her doctorate, has been in space, she shows that science can be fun, and promotes a love for learning.

✦I think I would implement writing and art into a lesson about Jemison. I would do a prompt activity like "If I were an astronaut..." or "If I could live in space..." For the art I would have each student create an astronaut suit out of construction paper and glue it onto a space scene that they have also created out of any medium of their choosing, I would then take a picture of the student and glue it onto the space where the have created the space helmet.

✦Her contributions should be highlighted because she won 2 Nobel prizes, made strides for women in science, and really made a difference in the world.

✦I would integrate learning about her in the classroom by creating a 'chemical reaction'. It would essentially be a baking soda and vinegar volcano but you could label the ingredients as different elements and use other liquids like water or juice along with the vinegar.

✦Bell's contributions should be highlighted because he helped to invent the telephone, helped create communication for the deaf community, and had a non-stop hard working drive about him.

✦I think having students create cup phones, and using those to communicate would be a creative way to implement Bell and his achievements.

✦I think this resource is strong because it gives you questions to ask students as you go through the steps. It encourages students to make observations during the experiment. I do, however, wish their was a data recording sheet. Especially if you decide to also do this activity using different liquids, but that is something that would be easy enough to make on your own, if there is enough time.

✦I think the steps of this activity are very clear and while it is a fun activity I do wish there was more of a lesson structure to it. There are a lot of good question opportunities within this activity that could be added in. Unfortunately, with this activity the teacher would be having to create their own worksheets if that is something that would be needed.

It has standards that this activity aligns with, there are printables linked within it, there's an overview of the lesson, background on why this lesson is being taught, assessments, procedures, and extensions. It has about everything you would need to make it a complete lesson.

✦While there is no true instruction or guide in this resource I feel like the activity itself could be easy to make your own or draw inspiration from this specific one. I think making the rainbow prism from the pony beads itself is a fun activity, it's just important that the beads used are not completely opaque and there is a prism at the bottom.

✦Again, this resource doesn't necessarily have instructions or a guide on what to do once implementing this into the classroom. But, it is a pretty easy activity to adapt to fit into you and your classroom's needs. Unfortunately again, creating your own printables would be necessary for this activity.

✦I like this resource because there are a ton of different sections providing great information like materials, instructions, extensions, and questions to ask students all throughout the activity.

✦While this resource is a great base to the lesson I have thought of it is ultimately up to the teacher to create the lesson itself. I know that takes time but, it would, after all, be completely customizable to you and your classroom's needs. This resource provides an extensive list of current astronauts along with a biography of all of them, so a mini research project would fit this perfectly.

✦I think this resource is pretty good. It has sections labeled so you know what materials you need, the procedures, and it even includes a video to watch that has someone demonstrating what the students will be doing. I also like how there is a point on there that asks students to experiment with different speeds and directions to compare what happens with their tornados. I think something that could make this better would be to have a printable that allows students to record their findings/ observations based on how they are moving their jars.

✦I think this resource is great. From the actual website you can open a PDF with a detailed outline of how to carry out this activity. The illustrations are very helpful for students reading over the instructions as well. There are so many suggestions all through the PDF on ways to switch the experiment slightly, there's questions that students can answer, and at the end there's songs you can play with the glasses. It also suggest for students to create their own song at the end which would be fun.
