They were different and judgemental along with being very violent.

Targeted African Americans. Catholics, Jews, Immigrants, and any other group said to be "un-american"

-Claimed to fight for "Americanism"

-By 1924 almost 4 million people were members

-Began to decline because of leadership and power struggles

-A former preacher William J Simmons refounded the KKK in 1915
