Philo Taylor Farnsworth grew up on a small farm in Utah. He was inspired by many different inventions, including the hand-cranked telephone, the phonograph, and the radio. One day, when he was plowing the potato fields at his new house in Idaho, he thought of how the television could work. He imagined it from the parallels in the rows of dirt he plowed into parallel lines of light, this would lead to him eventually sharing this idea to his teacher, and then investors that would help him get to the first true, working prototype of the television.

He was inspired by great inventors like Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell. Then, he learned that scientists are working on television so he decided to also work on it. He then got inspired by the rays of sunlight and then he invented television. Television transforms the image into rays of electrons, then rearranging the electrons into an image. If this is done very quickly, it would trick the human eye into seeing an image instead of rays.

By Lina and Emery

Philo Taylor Farnsworth was born in 1906 on a farm in Utah. Ever since Philo could talk, he loved anything mechanical, and once his parents noticed his interest, they took him to a train station to see a train. As Philo was growing up he became really interested in phonographs and hand cranked telephones. When he was a teenager, scientists were trying to invent television, but it still hadn’t worked out yet. One sunny day, he was plowing the potato fields and looked back at his work and noticed the perfect lines he had made. This gave him the idea to attempt to make television in his own way, which led to the TVs we use now.
