         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Were you aware of these standards for K-6?  </strong></div><div>I did not know that these even existed, and they are never talked about in PD or something that we have to give assignments or grade how they do on it!<br><br></div><div><strong>How do you (or might you) implement one of these standards in your classroom (do not use the same example(s) provided in the standard – provide a different example).<br></strong>I could use this in my classroom by having my students use a website like StoryBird. They could write the story on their own paper, then transfer it to the digital version! That could cover many different <strong>Arizona </strong>standards including:<br>Strand 1: Concept 2: PO.1<br>Strand 1: Concept 2: PO.3<br>Strand 1: Concept 4: PO.1<br>Strand 1: Concept 4: PO.2<br>Strand 5: Concept 1: PO.5<br>Strand 6: Concept 1: PO.1<br>Strand 6: Concept 1: PO.3<br>Strand 6: Concept 2: PO.1</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>1st Grade Math -1.OA.A<br>Represent and solve<br>problems involving addition<br>and subtraction.</li><li>I would use technology by having online manipulatives that they could work with. In our math program, we have this option, and students can play game and use manipulatives to help solve problems. They could use different pictures, online cubes or counters, base 10 blocks, etc. to help them solve the problems. </li><li>I would integrate our Streams (laptops) to help them use different manipulatives on the computer. Students will learn to click and grab using a track pad, log into their computers using uppercase letters, punctuation, numbers and lowercase letters. They will then solve math problems using the manipulatives by adding and taking them away. With the base 10 blocks, they are able to construct and deconstruct the ones cubes into a tens rod.  This will help them understand the point of regrouping and carrying.</li><li>I think this could improve their learning by seeing the cubes disappear into a rod. When we do problems with the physical cubes, they have a hard time of understanding why they are taking 10 cubes away and pulling a rod out.  When the cubes are not leaving the mat on the computer, they are more likely to see why these individual cubes are becoming a tens rod!</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Post #3 - Innovation</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>With innovation, I have had heard a lot of great things about what Indiana is doing to push this ahead. In my home district, they have eLearning days with inclement weather. This is a great way for students to still be engaged in their learning even if they can not be in the school building. Teachers can build knowledge through online exercises and practices. In Arizona, where I teach, we do not have these days. If we did have snow days, I would use the laptops to help communicate with them through Google Classroom what they need to do for the day since they are not at school.  I would not teach new topics, but reinforce what we have talked about throughout the week or days before. Having them write and comment on their peers posts about questions or having them participate in games and activities. <br> <br>The IDOE is also doing a great job with the grant program for one to one computers. If students are being able to access these computers each and every day, they will be more comfortable and understand their functions more. I think it is a great thing to have the Department of Ed putting their funds to these schools. In my school, we have been funding our own computers. The middle and high schools have one to one computers, and the elementary schools have 36 per grade level. For us, it is hard to use only a few at a time. We take tests, write stories, play math related games, etc to deepen our learning.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Symbaloo is something that stuck out to me right away. I would like to try to have this as the interface of our classroom, and see how it works with my students.  Being more organized in where to go and how to get there would be awesome!. This is something that I am going to try in my classroom for the next two weeks before our spring break. I'm hoping it will make it easier to help with their click paths!</div>]]></description>

         <title>Post #5 - Social Media</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The first thing that I would do with the Social Media aspect of technology is talk to them about appropriate conversations and how to act on social media. Having them learn how to correctly interact with others over the internet would be a great thing for my students to learn, even at a younger age. <br><br>They could also use social media to help integrate conversational writing and story telling.  When working with main idea, they could post the main idea at the top, and others could comment details that would make that the main idea!<br><br>In my classroom, I have a class Instagram as well. This is where parents can follow and see what we have been up to in our classroom.  I have students sign a waiver saying they are okay with their child being put on the instagram page. If they are not, I find pictures or put them on the ends of pictures to where I can crop them out of the post!! This keeps parents involved throughout the year as well!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I tried implementing Tynker into my classroom last week, after I had signed up for the Webinar that was posted on our Class Page! My students did a good great job at the beginning learning how to put the coding into a sequence, and how to get through the simple Tutorial part of the program. They started to struggle with it once it didn't have as many instructions, and a lot more options for them to choose from. <br><br>I used it to get them to start to problem solve, and think about the steps and process. They did a great job doing so for a while, until it started to get more complicated. They started to get frustrated towards the end. I thought that they started off great, with learning the processes and thinking about how they needed to get to the next step. <br><br>They learned different problem solving skills, as well as, learning functions of computer programming in a simplistic way. </div>]]></description>
