Wiley and the Hairy Man

This folktale was about how Wiley attempted to defeat the big Hairy Man. This was a folktale because it included magic, things happened in 3's, there was a lesson, and there was a happy ending. In the story, I think that Wiley was the hero, but he wouldn't of succeeded without the help of Mammy. At first, Wiley was scared of fighting the Hairy Man. Then, he talked to Mammy about it, and he learned different ways to defeat the Hairy Man. If Mammy wasn't there to help Wiley, he would have been defeated by the Hairy Man, and that wouldn't be good for anyone. Toward the end of the story, Wiley realizes that he needs the help of Mammy to really defeat the Hairy Man once and for all. They work together to create a plan, and the Hairy Man goes down in the dust.

I feel bad for Jaiden because his life is controlled by managers. These managers tell Jaiden what he can and can't do, who he should be friends with, and mostly everything else about his life. He doesn't have to power to make any decisions for himself, which is really sad when you think about it. His family is a company, a group of people who's sole job is to make decisions for Jaiden. If I had to live like this, I would hate it. My freedom is being able to make my own decisions, getting to choose what path I want to take. To have this taken away is like having all of your freedom taken away, too. I hope that Jaiden finds a way to be free from NECorp. Many people may think that Jaiden has a great life with all of these nice things, but he really doesn't have the freedom to have the two things that matter most: family and friends. Without this, he is stranded by himself in his life. Sure, the employees at NECorp care about him, but not is a way that is even close to a family. I really hope that Jaiden feels this way too, but it's also the only way he ever remembers living.

The picture that I chose was of two people shaking hands, making some type of deal with each other. I chose this picture because I had a thought while reading today. This thought was that maybe Jaiden with buy himself out of NECorp, or maybe even get adopted by a new and real family. I also wondered why, when Jaiden's parents died, his grandparents or other family member didn't just take him in? Why make his life so difficult by making him live in a corporation when he could just live with his other family members? Maybe in the upcoming parts of the story, his grandparents will make a deal with NECorp to release Jaiden and let him live with his family.
