I believe my whole life is a contribution of everyone who has been staying or even gone. As always and forever, I want to say thank you to my parents because of giving me birth and encouraging who I am today. However, I’m also grateful to those who have passed through my youth, hurt my feelings, and break my heart. In fact, they’re priceless experiences for me to acknowledge my value as well as the power of being with family. I acknowledge for in every minute I breathe in this world because the more time I’m still alive, the more opportunities I have to contribute to society. In short, that would be my honor to be in this class to have a connection with all of you. I hope we have 16 wonderful weeks together and be able to close the gap between each other.

In the crazy times that is our present day I can appreciate that there is still an exponential amount of things that can be acknowledged as positive contributions to the world around us. I am grateful for the leaders and public service personal who are protecting us from these wildfires and the global pandemic that we battle everyday. I am so thankful for science, technology, and knowledge that has brought us further in progressing humanity in the present. I am glad that I can still see that there are so many people and organizations around the world that are looking to do as much good as they possibly can while minimizing the amount of bad that that they produce while doing so. In my own personal life I am so very thankful for my mom, who has always been a person who I can count on. I occasionally struggle to see the bright side of the world around me. It seems as I have gotten older that the amount of evil grows more with each passing year, but it is important to acknowledge the good even when things seem the darkest.

(Post by Sasha Marshall)

I would like to acknowledge my father. Whom at first was not prepared to have his first and only child be a stubborn, rebellious girl who often times did the exact opposite of what he warned. Who at first ran off without warning or did things he just didn't understand. Who at first, got frustrated and mad. Who at first might have been my biggest competitor. But, who in time and through growth has become my biggest fan. I would just like to thank my father for challenging me to reach new heights and growing beside me when he thought he couldn't. For holding the strength and stability to let me explore and grow in different ways all the while he struggled in silence. Then for always supporting everything I did even though it may not have been what he had seen for me. Lastly, for always putting his belief and support behind whatever I did. I'm grateful everyday for he has always been my strength to keep going, my inspiration to stay focused, and my biggest comforter for when life gets tough and I need a break.

I would like to acknowledge Kobe Bryant (as tomorrow would've been his 42nd birthday). Growing up in Southern California, there was no greater athlete we looked up to as younger kids then Kobe. Both as a basketball player, philanthropist, and a father, Kobe was among the greatest athletes of our age, and will always stand among the greats.
- Calib Al-Thani
