I chose to use this method for my reading ladder because I wanted to focus on which books helped me rediscover my love for reading since that is the best thing I gained while continuously reading books this semester. My newfound thoughts as a reader are I am so impressed with myself because even though some books took more than the week for me to read, I read them because whether they were books at the bottom of my ladder which I didn't enjoy so much, or books at the very top of my ladder that I loved, I was reading books outside my comfort zone. I would have never picked up Slaughterhouse-five had I not been given a specific genre, forcing me to go to Barnes and Noble to find a book and now it is probably in my top three favorite books. I will most certainly take this newly found love for reading books across the spectrum and share it with my future students. I feel that although I have not mastered being able to choose the perfect book, I feel that I will continue to become a well rounded reader for the sake of my students. Being able to say I've read Harry Potter but I've also read a book like Fun Home will help me connect with any student I have, making me a better teacher.
