This Statement of Attainment certifies that I successfully completed the nationally recognised training unit SIRCIND002 – Support the Supply of Pharmacy Medicines and Pharmacist Only Medicines, issued by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. This formal qualification represents a significant achievement in my career development, as outlined in Goal 3 of my placement plan:

"By the end of my placement, I will have attained a recognised Statement of Attainment in S2/S3 medication training, demonstrating my understanding of the safe supply of Pharmacy and Pharmacist Only Medicines."

This training provided me with accredited knowledge in medicine classification, safety protocols, customer care, and pharmacy regulations, all of which were reinforced and applied during my 100-hour placement at Priceline Pharmacy Craigieburn Central. As noted in the Self-Sourced Project Description, my role focused on health promotion and staff education around blood pressure monitoring and medication understanding. The S2/S3 training deepened my practical understanding of these areas, enabling me to engage more confidently with staff and customers regarding over-the-counter medicine safety and appropriate referral pathways.

Completing this certification was a major step in actively managing my career trajectory, as it enhanced my resume with formal qualifications and proved my ability to operate in a healthcare environment. It demonstrated not just passive observation but the attainment of real-world, job-relevant knowledge that aligns closely with the communication, education, and ethical care responsibilities required in speech pathology.

Overall, this certificate serves as concrete evidence of both professional learning and my commitment to building a skillset that supports my long-term goals. It marks a key milestone in my transition from student to future health professional. (I competed the required training throughout the placement, and completed a verbal assessment in May (only availability) with Guild to successfully attain the certificate)

Goal 2: Oral Communication

This evidence supports Goal 2 of my placement plan:

"By the end of my placement, I will improve my confidence in oral communication by actively participating in at least 3 workplace meetings and contributing insights in discussions."

Throughout my placement I was consistently engaged in both formal and informal communication settings that challenged and strengthened my oral communication skills.

I actively participated in multiple pharmacy staff meetings, where I shared progress updates and explained the rationale behind the educational handbook and blood pressure poster I developed. Initially, I found it difficult to speak up in a room full of experienced professionals. However, through preparation, reflection, and encouragement from my supervisor, I gradually gained the confidence to contribute meaningfully. This progress is also discussed in detail in my final reflection, where I describe how I overcame self-doubt and found my voice in a clinical setting.

In addition to meetings, I had daily opportunities to enhance my communication while assisting customers over the script counter. This involved explaining product use, clarifying medication-related questions, and addressing customer concerns especially regarding blood pressure readings. These interactions required me to adapt my language to suit different health literacy levels, a skill that is directly relevant to speech pathology. I learned to simplify complex health information while maintaining clarity, empathy, and professionalism especially when supporting distressed or confused customers.

My supervisor provided verbal feedback on several occasions, noting improvements in both my tone and clarity when interacting with customers. I also tracked my progress through reflective journaling, documenting key moments when I communicated confidently or successfully handled challenging conversations.

This evidence demonstrates measurable growth in oral communication from hesitant participation to confident, tailored communication in a clinical environment. These skills are essential to my future career in speech pathology, where I will need to clearly explain treatment plans, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support clients with diverse communication needs.

To support my goal of improving planning and organisational skills, I used a physical diary throughout my placement, with dedicated entries for each day I attended: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I colour-coded tasks, meetings, and deadlines to help me visualise my schedule more clearly and stay on track with daily responsibilities. Using this system allowed me to prioritise tasks effectively, manage my time, and ensure nothing was overlooked. Regular check-ins with my supervisor helped me adjust and stay focused. The photos provided show just one week of my planning, demonstrating how I structured my time and organised tasks to support my learning and development. This diary became an essential tool in helping me complete all tasks on time and build planning habits I will carry into future roles in speech pathology.
