It may seem like Equality isn't believable because right off the bat he's questioning everything, but he has been doing that since a young age when he was shunned for having a higher intelligence. I can't exactly relate to them yet because while we do get a glimpse into Equality's mind, we don't know much about anyone else.

We are not programmed to think as a group, we are all individual people. The characters in the story think as one, they don't have their own thoughts, they aren't really allowed to have their own thoughts.
