Poverty, lack of education, and unemployment are some of the main causes of this issue. In the Philippines, around 784,000 people are victims of forced labour, with many of them working in the sex industry. The Philippine government has taken steps to combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation, including the passage of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act and the formation of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking. More needs to be done to increase enforcement and protect victims.victims. Many victims have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health concerns, which can interfere with their ability to work and maintain healthy relationships. Victims' families may face social exclusion and financial hardship as well. The deterioration of social and cultural norms, as well as the continuation of gender inequity and violence, have an impact on society as a whole. Organisations like the International Justice Mission (IJM) help victims reintegrate into society by providing legal and psychosocial support. For victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, the Philippine government has also constructed shelters and rehabilitation centres. To investigate and prosecute cases of sexual exploitation, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has also developed anti-human trafficking sections. It is critical to involve communities and stakeholders in preventative and response initiatives to raise awareness and support for these efforts. Training for law enforcement, social workers, and other professionals who care with victims, as well as public campaigns to encourage zero-tolerance for sexual exploitation, can all be part of this.
