Dandelions are not native to North America, but indigenous medicine incorporates what grows here. Take your students outside to your schoolyard and find a dandelion. Ask students to pick a dandelion with the root to see its parts. Go through the article and help students associate different medicine available in the different parts of the dandelion.

Instead of using biological supply animals, or virtual lessons/books, go outside with a trowel or small shovel in the spring or fall and find logs, woodchips, or dig into the dirt in your schoolyard to find evidence of ants, beetles, moths, bird nests, etc.
