Secondly, after research was done it was found that the community is not really involved at many schools, in our school there will be influential involvement from businesses and the community. Learners are allowed to stay in our school until they reach the age of 20, many schools do not have an age-restriction. Many schools have 2 set languages as a Home language and First Additional Language, we offer a choice as we have English as Home language and a choice between Afrikaans or Setswana as a first additional language. Another difference is the fact that we do not just focus on Academics OR sport OR culture, our focus is on all of these areas. Our last 2 periods on a Tuesday and Thursday will be used as sport and culture periods in order to grow the learners’ talent and passions. We will have an hour after school (from 14:00 – 15:00) which will be used for extra classes or as a time frame used for inquiries if learners were to have any. Our school will focus on interactive and inclusive classrooms, the teacher will be a facilitator and not a lecturer. We will have technology in each classroom and teachers will be motivated to use it. Students will do practicals in subjects such as technology and science, many schools leave practicals out of the curriculum, but it is very important for a child’s academical growth and interest. Self-directed learning will be important in our school and our classrooms will be learner centred. Teachers will be using various strategies of education and multi sensory strategies to engage learners in learning. Lesson plans will be very important, which the worth of is usually underestimated by schools. Students will be receiving marks verbally, on an online system and a report card printed out as well. When learners fail they will be given a second-opportunity exam (if it would help them pass), but if they were to fail again, they will be compelled to join summer school in January as a coarse to start their year early, they will get extra homework to help them and they will be obliged to join extra classes when scheduled. Teachers will be evaluated each year by learners in order for management and the principal to be up to date as far as teacher’s behaviour and ways in the classroom. We will have a strike-based system of demerits that learners will be facing for every wrongdoing/behavioural problem. The leadership learners and normal learners will be wearing different uniforms. Student leadership will consist of 3 main groups: culture, sport, and academics, 8 learners each. Our teachers will have no lower degree than a bachelor’s degree in education. The classroom will have a teacher to learner ratio of 1:26 per register class and for Grade 10-12 when they move from class to class, no more than 1:34.
