-Plastic bags don’t biodegrade, they photodegrade - breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits
-A plastic bag can take between 400-1000 years to break down in the environment
-As it breaks down, plastic particles contaminate soil and waterways and enter the food web when animals accidentally ingest them
-In the ocean, these particles eventually end up in massive whirlpool like currents in the oceans called gyres. Our planet has 5 major gyres
-In some locations, there is 46 times more plastic then available food for marine animals
-Plastic bags cause over 100,000 sea turtles and other marine animals deaths every year
-Nearly 90% of debris in our oceans is plastic
-Plastic bags are among the twelve items of debris most found in most cleanups, according to the non-profit Centre for Marine Conservation
-Plastic debris accumulates persistent organic pollutants (POPs) like PCBs and DDT at high concentrations. Many of these pollutants are known as endocrine disrupters
-When fish and other marine animals ingest plastic debris, they are also ingesting these toxins
-If the food we eat is contaminated with toxins, we will be too

Australian dairy farming is in the midst of change. After the deregulation of the industry in 2000, the industry mantra quickly become “get big or get out”. Since then the trend has been towards fewer but larger, more is tens I’ve operations, which may put more stress on the environment, dairy cows and resources such as water, grain and land.

In order to produce milk, cows must give birth to a calf once a year, meaning that cows are impregnated annually. Bobby calves are ‘calves produced by dairy cows on the farm, less than 30 days old and not with their mothers’. Bobby calves are considered surpluses because they are not required for the milking herd. Most farms separate the bobby calves from their mothers within twelve hours of birth and send their bobby calves for sale or slaughter within a week of birth.
Sincerely-cupcake man
