When the Nazis took over Helga Weiss was only 11 years old. She along with her mother were being confronted by Nazi officer Josef Mengele when she lied about her age making her able to work and not go into the death chamber. Her mother backed up her saying this by telling the officer that Helga was her daughters older sister. With this Helga was sent to the forced labor camps and not the gas chamber. Her story and resitance went done in history. She wrote a diary of her day to day life making it clear the unfairness and terribleness of the extermination camps.
