Natural Selection: There are over 100,00 species of mollusks. Many with, and many without shells. Overtime, some mollusks adapted to land, and gained shells for protection; while marine mollusks are without one.
 Decent with modification has occurred within phylum mollusca because every species has some similar characteristics. This indicates that all mollusks once evolved from the same species. The Phylogenetic tree is a good example of mollusks evolving and branching off from the same species.
