I will share reliable information about how how children learn to read and write. Parents have noticed changes.

Parent Council of King George School has arranged a presentation, and a Q/A session at King George School (May 1st, from 7-8:30 p.m.)

Some of the topics I will address include:

What happens in the brain when we are learning to read?

What's the best way to teach children to read and spell? What has changed? What has stayed the same?

How can parents support at home?

When my child comes across a new French word, I encourage him to figure it out by context first and then I’ll use google translate to check/confirm. Is this helping him learn or is it skipping the learning struggle that will make him a stronger reader? We often run into this in the comprehension questions as well. Thanks!
