I think an important moment in this book is when Ms. carmen turns to the main charcter and says "irritated" and "disgusted" "no adoption for you baby". I think this moment is important cause it backs up what she has said earlier about feeling unwanted. People are obviously trying to make her feel this way. Which is also why she is feeling mistreated.

I think an important moment is when Mary finds out that she can't keep her baby. " Mary you are still a ward of the state... and given your crime... we cannot in good conscience put another life at risk." I think the author includes this because everything that has to do with Mary's future is being taken away due to the murder are Alyssa.

I think a important quote is on pg76 "Momma dont do this to me! I've done enough for you. you have to!" this quote is significant because this is gonna cause conflict in the book because mary is admitting she didn't kill the baby her mom did and see needs her mom to come clean so she can keep her baby

This give us a chance to think about what marry is hiding.

i think one of the most important lines on page 70 is, "there is a brief pause as the world comes crashing around me. Windows break, building collapse, people screaming and drowning in the rising sea..." this is important because the words " pause" , "crashing" , "break" ,"collapse" , and "screaming" all shows the emotions she's feeling which will probably cause a conflict between 2 characters.

I think the most important moment is when ms. carmen talks about giving away mary child . Making mary feel more abandoned and a total outcast " ms carmen momentarlity shocked by the sound of my voice , turns my way irritated and disgusted as if she forgot i was still in the room " no , no adoption for your baby" There is a brief pause as the world comes crashes down" The authour did this to show us the reader what she been through and how much stress and by her self time she dealt with for so long at a totally young age .

1. I think an important moment was when winter said, “She ain’t like the others, Judy. She ain’t stupid.” 2.This is important because, although she got pregnant a little to fast she is a good girl compared to the other girls in the group home. The only thing that ruins her profile is her killing the baby.

I think an important moment on these pages is when Mary is using her voice to try and tell them she's innocent and showing her inner frustration. "You can't! But it's MY baby. It's me and Ted's baby, NOT theirs...It's not fair.. 'I didn't do it'...' I didn't kill Alyssa.'"(page 71-72). This quote shows how Mary's feeling with her care takers on how they're treating her and running her life. I think that the author in Mary's inner thoughts shift to her actual dialogue to show a change in Mary on her actually starting to speak up for herself.

I think the most important moment was when they took the baby and Mary was like " They're not supposed to do that....." which show that Mary has sympathy and kindness for the baby, after she was convicted for killing one and it seem as if the baby is a symbol.

in the pages 70-77 i found two quotes that i thought were very important. in page 71 it says "Im dizzy from holding my breathe for so long, maybe for years." the other quote is stated in page 74, it says " but that was the scariest part, they CAN just do that." i think these two quotes are important bceause they both use a few words that could indicate how Mary, and the other girls mental state has developed since the years. the author included this to show how the girls' mind motives have changed. meaning the girls hvae lost hope, and mental strength.
