Irena was born in 1910, but grew up in a town of Otwock, Poland. Irena's name day is October 20th, but her birthday is February 15th. Not only was Irena Sendler showed act of resistance, but Irena's great grandfather led a rebellion against the Czars. When WW2 had begun, Irena became a Zegota. (Which is a code name for the Council to Aid Jews.)
