This trilogy might be titled March because it might have to do with other important marches and dates that happened during the civil right movement and how it affected the future. All the dates that were in "March" had a significance to them. Such as January 20, 2009 on page 12, which was the inauguration of Barack Obama.-sarahy

I think this trilogy is titled march because it starts off by showing John Lewis leading a March across Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama which was a significant part of the civil rights movements as it contributed to the signing of the Voting Rights Act on 6 August 1965. Then the whole book shows John Lewis´s journey as an activist and his experiences that led to the March. -Lidia

The history of segregation and racism can have connect to voting regulations because most states have regulations for those that are in prison or serving parole time. This being that people of color are more likely to have spent time in a prison or have a criminal record than white people. Black people in this century will still experience racism for the reason being that it's imbedded deep into our society. There are other regulations that may seem that are put in place to stop specific types of people from voting.-Sarahy

African Americans have a long history of fighting for equality and ending segregation. One of their achievement was the signing of the voting rights act. But states have been setting up different voting requirements to restrict this right. From literacy test to poll taxes, Shorting the voting time period, shortage of polling places and not allowing people with criminal records to vote which if you look at the percentage people of color are more likely to have a criminal record than white people. -Lidia

I think this first part of "March" gives you the history and background of John Leis and how he became a civil rights leader. What marches he was part of how he helped in the civil rights movement. It being told as a graphic novel can be so you are able to look and feel how they fought and show example on what happened during those times.-Sarahy

The inauguration day of President Barack Obama was included in the novel because it was a big thing in American History to finally have a black person leading a whole country. In a way it was a turning point in history. Because after he served in term we would soon get our first female black vice president. With eh civil rights movement faced before this could have been a moment where a lot of people that were involved such as John Lewis that was still alive actually believed there work did something. -Sarahy

I think it was told as a graphic novel because through graphics you can tell a story that takes 500 words in like 2-3 pages without having to write every single detail. The way the images are drawn can have a deeper message. It draws out emotions (such as sympathy, empathy) from the reader. Additionally, it helps the reader picture and understand the events better. -Lidia

The inauguration of President Obama was included because it was a huge turning point in US history as an African American became a president for the first time.
It signals the climax of the novel because after al the important dates shown and the work they have done still wasn't enough. So when it said "We have to march" it could have meant that there work was not done and that in thee second comic you will se more marches more important dates and how how things changed from certain marches and advocates-sarahy
