I was surprised that they got rescued before something happened to Ralph. I wish Piggy had made it just 12 more hours because then he would be going home with the boys. I am happy that they did get rescued because more boys would've gotten hurt/killed.

I felt as if the story hadn't really concluded because the children didn't "return" back to their innocence. And even after they are rescued they are unable to return to how life was before the happenings on the island. I was also partly shocked by how they got saved before anything happened to Ralph.

I think that the end happened very quickly, so I wished that maybe there had been another chapter added for when the officer found them. But it was still a very good ending that was also sad, especially when thinking that, if Simon and Piggy had just survived for a few more days, they would have still been alive to get rescued.

I feel sad that piggy died right before they got rescued. If he had managed to survive for another day, he would have made it. Piggy was the most rational out of all of them, so its a shame that he couldn't be the one to survive while all of the savage boys did.

I was shocked. I was so sure the savages were going to kill Ralph and turn into savages for ever. Also, I thought it was ironic how the fire did end up saving the boys. The savages were trying to kill Ralph, and they ended saving them all.

Near the end of the story I really just lost hope in the book, mostly because the "bad guys" seemed to win. Piggy and Simon both died, and Jack and his crew was rescued, which gave a sad feeling.

I honestly did not expect the boys to be rescued by the officer, seeing the traditional ending being that they don't get rescued and remain on the island. I would've preferred to see the boys remain on the islands instead of being rescued, it felt like the ending didn't really fit with the rest of the story.

I thought the ending was half expected and half unexpected. To be honest, I didn't really like it that much. It almost felt "rushed" in a way and I think it might have been a better ending if the boys didn't get off the island. Overall, the book was interesting and it explored some interesting topics, but the ending didn't really match the rest of the story.

I felt that the ending was somewhat abrupt, and it felt that the savage side of the island beat the civilized side of the island. Piggy and Simon were basically the only people(maybe Ralph) that deserved to live or be rescued.

I think Golding had some big ambitions when writing this. He wanted people to die, and he wanted it to be dramatic; he wanted to leave an impact. The issue here lies in that William Golding did not want to deal with the consequences of his ambitions. He wapped the whole 200 page story up in 2 pages, having no actual reason to end it except keeping it the typical length of school texts. I think it was decently good until Simon and Piggy's deaths -- from there, it only felt doomed to be a quick and "bs'd" ending.
