2.) in June of 1954, a covert operation under the U.S air force conducted psychological warfare. This is the beginning of the war. This is significant because it marked the start of the war and showed that the USSR wasn't the only one who was willing to do bad things fro personal gain.
3.) in November of 1963, Ngo Dinh Diem was assassinated by his own generals under the authority of the U.S. this was due to his violent behavior when dealing with the Buddhist party.
4.) The north is suffering casualty rates of up to 60%. the U.S has sent approximately 485,000 troops and over 20,000 have been killed. This is significant because it shows the casualties during this time and shows why Americans were so paranoid after the war.
5.) on April 29th, 1975, there is an evacuation that takes place, and the next day the Vietnamese government surrendered.

Many people would agree that the USSR won this battle due to them meeting most of their strategic goals while the U.S did not. Its a fuzzy question that dosent truly have an answer.

The war also severely damaged the U.S economy. The president refused to raise taxes for the war and as a result, there was a huge circle of inflation. It also caused military morale to decrease. People started to feel like they couldn't trust it and people questioned if the military was doing the right thing.

The war also had many affects that last even to today. The U.S alone lost nearly 60,000 americans during the war. The loss of loved ones and the mourning still affects the word today. The war also sparked a time of confusion and paranoia for American citizens. Most people were used to things being normal but with the war changed the way people lived.
