These flocks also make it much easier for birds to capture prey as well. An example of this is when the entire flock is searching for food, and when one bird finds some, it alerts the rest of the birds. If animals are close and can communicate better, it'll be easier to hunt for food as a team then all alone. Social behavior can help living things stay away from predators as well, since animals can send signals to each other. Travelling in large groups like the birds can also help living things stay away from predators. As you can see, social behavior provides a species with protection and resources.
