I have grown up in Toronto for all of my life. I took this picture during the COVID-19 pandemic on one of my many quarantine walks. I love the city of Toronto but would like to explore other parts of Canada after I graduate eventually.

Graduation 2023: University of Western Ontario

I completed my undergraduate degree at the Western University of Ontario, majoring in Media Information and Technoculture. This program studies how the media shapes human nature and how digital technologies disseminate knowledge. I am excited to use my past knowledge to build upon how online environments can shape individuals in an educational setting.

Last year, I joined the varsity swim team at the University of Toronto. I have represented the team nationally and internationally. I am so fortunate to call this team my family, and the support of my professors and peers has led me to success.

2024 Canadian Olympic Trials for Paris

This past May, I competed in the Canadian Olympic Trials in hopes of making the Paris 2024 team. My race was the 1500m freestyle, which takes approximately seventeen minutes. It is arguably the most grueling race with demanding training and mileage. Although I did not qualify, the experience (as seen on my face) represents it all.

I apply the same philosophy in the pool and school: the stress disappears when you have fun. I recall freaking out before my first practicum experience, thinking I had to be perfect. When you trust your training/school instead of dwelling on the past, these feelings disappear. I decided to take a deep breath instead of continuing to stress about practicum, resulting in an enjoyable time where my creativity blossomed. I had fun during this race and did well despite not making the team.

My Most Memorable Online Learning Moment

During the pandemic, I tutored children in my neighborhood virtually. One student, in particular, was unmotivated to the point that they stopped attending the lessons, causing distress to their parents and me. I resolved the problem by proposing a hybrid learning style, teaching the student required academia and enjoyable online tools such as Canva. As a result, the student created visually appealing Canva posts that demonstrated their learning.
