I was immediately drawn in by his textured synths and swingy drum loops but his more recent productions have completely changed my goals for the music that I want to produce. His use of guitar, synths, piano, drums, and old tape recorders packaged with his lush, emotional chord progression and melodies has inspired me to start incorporating more external instruments and hardware into my productions.

His sample selection, chord progressions, and use of vocal samples and granular synthesis have heavily influenced any type of music I have made since then. I was immediately obsessed with their song 'Fake Friends'. The transitions and dynamics between each verse and chorus gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Additionally, their latest album 'Last Of Your Kind' has been on repeat since being released earlier this year. The vibe they created with their live takes when recording is impressive. This led him to discover the large trap music community on the streaming service Soundcloud. Mr. Carmack, a trap/hip-hop producer was one of his initial sources of inspiration, which sparked an interest in him to start learning how to make music in GarageBand on his mum's laptop. I describe the song as having a simple thumpy hip-hop beat with a harsh snare that is similarly featured in some of Flume's creations. After hearing it for the first time, his reaction was "woah, a song doesn’t have to be one vibe all the way through; you can have two songs in one or have it evolve into something completely different." (Readers Digest, 2022). Flume mentions that he included a song with a key change on his newest record, he stated that  "I think that was influenced by listening to music like this." (Readers Digest, 2022). If you listen to 'Love Light' from Flume's 2022 album 'Palaces', it features a brief key change in the middle of the song.

He described the music she was playing at one of her shows as 'Insane' (Readers Digest, 2022). He mentioned the specific bubbly sound design in her track 'LEMONADE' was one of the first things to catch his ear when hearing it for the first time (Readers Digest, 2022). Flume also mentioned ''I was just genuinely inspired by what I heard that night.'' (Readers Digest, 2022). Flume and SOPHIE met after her show and have now worked on a bunch of music together, including the track 'Voices' which was released in 2019 on 'Hi This Is Flume (Mixtape)'.

During the time they had finished writing their song 'Haunted', they were listening to Kings Of Leon's album 'Because Of The Times'. This inspired them to replicate the "shaa" heard in the chorus of Kings Of Leon's (2007) song 'Fans' and incorporate it in towards the end of their song 'Haunted' (The Music, 2023). Jimmy Vann's (lead vocalist) shared 'You could say it's somewhat of a homage to one of my favourite bands of all time.' (The Music, 2023).

Cameron mentions he loves the 'live-ness' (The Music, 2023) of the recordings and describes it like 'people in a room hashing it out, which is more like the approach we took to recording this record too'. Whenever they captured the right vibe in the studio Jimmy said it was more about 'that live take was the one'.
