During her marriage to Abu Salamah, Umm Salamah (in a story related by Ziyad ibn Abi Maryam) is said to have asked her husband to make agreement that when either of them died, the other would not remarry. However, in this tradition, Abu Salamah responded by instructing Umm Salamah to remarry after his death. He then prayed, "O God, provide Umm Salamah after me with a better man than me who will not grieve her or injure her!"

During the Battle of Uhud (March 625), Abu Salamah was severely injured. Her husband eventually died from the wounds he received in the Battle of Uhud. Umm Salamah remembered the hadith recalled by her husband prior to his death, and began reciting the given prayer.

After finishing the iddah of four months and ten days, the sufficient amount of time that a woman must wait after the death of her husband before she can remarry, Umm Salama got offers of marriage. Abu Bakr and then Umar asked to marry her, but she declined. Muhammad himself then proposed to Umm Salama. She initially hesitated in her acceptance, stating, "O Messenger of Allah, I have three characteristics. I am a woman who is extremely jealous and I am afraid that you will see in me something that will anger you and cause Allah to punish me. I am a woman who is already advanced in age and I am a woman who has a young family.”

However, Muhammad appeased each of her concerns, "Regarding the jealousy you mentioned, I pray to Allah the Almighty to let it go away from you. Regarding the question of age you have mentioned, I am afflicted with the same problem as you. Regarding the dependent family you have mentioned, your family is my family."

By declaring this a person accepts the message of Allah Almighty that is revealed to humanity through the last prophet Muhammad (SAW). After accepting Islam it is obligatory on Muslim to observe all other Islamic obligations like five daily prayers, Zakat, Fasting in Ramadan, make a pilgrimage (Hajj) of the house of Allah if he/she is capable of doing this physically and also financially.

“Niyyah” is an Arabic word which literally means ‘intention.’ It is an essential and basic prerequisite for performing any form of Ibadah and/or good deed. In simpler words, Niyyah refers to the motive behind an act, which is to attain Allah SWT’s reward and draw yourself closer to the Almighty.

Most importantly, it helps you distinguish between the acts that you solely perform for the sake of Allah SWT and those that you perform for the sake of others. This means that any deed performed without Niyyah might not be accepted by Allah SWT.

Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated, “I heard Allah SWT’s Messenger (PBUH) saying: ‘The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. Tahara in accordance to Islamic law is an act of purifying oneself from ritual impurity or even najis or filth until one is eligible to perform a particular ibadah for worshipping Allah i.e performing daily prayers etc. Besides purifying the body, one must also purify his/her clothes and place(s). Purification can be achieved by ablution, bathing, dry ablution or ghusl.

Observing cleanliness of the soul, the clothes, and the surroundings is obligatory upon every Muslim, and this is considered as one of the pillars of Islam.

النظافة من الإيمان

Patience (sabr) means perseverance while facing difficulties. There are two types of patience; patience in obeying Allah’s command while keeping away from the prohibited acts and patience in accepting Allah’s fate. Among those, the best level of patience is the first one (patience in obeying Allah’s command while keeping away from the prohibited acts) as it is harder to apply rather than in accepting Allah’s fate.

Types of sabr :

Patience in doing ibadah (worship)

Patience in refraining self from ma’siah (sin)

Patience in accepting Allah’s fate

Both these names of Allah center on the Arabic quality of rahmah: (a) al-Raḥmān, the One who is defined by complete and universal rahmah[1] and (b) al-Raḥīm, the One who continuously shows much rahmah. It is thus by His rahmah that Allah introduces Himself repeatedly throughout the Qurʾān, so much so that after His tawhid (Oneness), the Qurʾān uses no other quality to describe Allah more than rahmah.
