Mike Tyson had a rough childhood, factors like the absence of his father and poor living conditions in Brooklyn New York shaped him as a troublemaker and thief. At the age of 16 his mother died and his personal trainer Cus'Damato became his parent guardian. Its important to remember that Tyson was characterized by uncontrollable rage and use of violence. Only being 20 years old he win the three heavyweight titles. He basically became the most famous sportsman on planet. I got this interesting quote from the article/interview performed by Ian Gittens. "When you have been the most famous sportsman on the planet, where do you go from there? Perhaps that is the problem. The only way is down. (Ian Gittens)" I believe that Mike Tyson became even more famous due to the irrational decisions and events that shaped his career after achieving fame and fortune. His ultimate demise and tragic downfall was the headline of many media sources and it still is now a days.

"When you have been the most famous sportsman on the planet, where do you go from there? Perhaps that is the problem. The only way is down. (Ian Gittens)" In an interview that Ian Gittens performed on Mike Tyson on November 2013, the famous retired boxer explained how his career dissolved through time. The boxer as a youngster showed innate talent to fight, since he grew up in a rough nieboorhood he developed physical traits which would help him in the future. Mike achieved fame extremely rapid when we was only 20 years of age. His imperious way of acting in public led many people to think of him as intimidating and aggressive person, which in reality he was. This of course helped inflict fear in his opponents inside the ring. Mike Tyson's fractious attitude also caused several problems in his personal life. The media was able to portray Tyson as a tragic hero since he transitioned from being one of the most payed boxers of all time to a state of bankruptcy, drug addiction and depression. Due to his possession of tragic Shakespearean elements, Tyson and the character Hamlet share equal traits.
Old thesis: It is safe to say that Mike Tyson did become famous through his boxing, but it is even more convincing to say that his downfall coupled with the interest of media sources made him even more popular around the world.
New Thesis after revision: Contemporary media used tragic elements to illustrate the demise of Mike Tyson in order to gain the attention of more people.

"When you have been the most famous sportsman on the planet, where do you go from there? Perhaps that is the problem. The only way is down (Ian Gittens)". At some point in his life Mike Tyson was indeed the most famous sportsman of the world. In an interview with Ian Gittens back in 2013, the former boxer explains how his fame and wealth dissolved through time. Tyson at a young age demonstrated innate talent to fight; however, his imperious actions destroyed his career. He developed anger control and drug abuse problems which affected different areas of his life. The downfall of such a famous man can be compared to the Shakespearean character Hamlet. It is safe to say that both are great examples of tragic heroes, both achieved greatness but their obsession and fractious attitude opened the path for their tragic demise. In order to illustrate the demise of a famous person like Mike Tyson, contemporary media uses tragic elements from Shakespearean literature.

As the boxer quickly rose to the top, his obsession over wanting to be the best coupled with problems as drug abuse, failed marriages and excess of violence led him to his ultimate demise in his career. Mike Tyson was a great boxer full of skill and talent; at a very young age he already had a huge crowd of fans. He was paid a good salary for doing what he loved, fighting. When his fighting career was at it’s peak, he committed a series of mistakes, which caused him serious trouble. At First, Tyson was convicted of sexual assault in 1992. He was sentenced to three years in prison after being declared guilty for rape. After this, Gerard frequently abused of drugs and medications like Thorazine. He also became a heavy drinker and an alcoholic. In June 28, 1997, Tyson tried to come back into the spotlight, but he bit half of his opponent’s ear off, Evander Holyfield.
